Excursions & Post-Conference Trips
During the registration process you will be asked whether you wish to book an organised Wednesday afternoon trip, as well as whether you wish to book a post-conference trip.
Be aware that the post-conference trip to the Eifel has a registration deadline, which is 3. July 2026. You can find all information regarding the Wednesday afternoon and post-conference trips on the respective webpages.
Mentor/Mentee program
The mentor/mentee program pairs students and early career PhDs new to the community with an experienced mentor to discuss research and become more integrated into the Meteoritical Society community. A mentor typically is at least an experienced PhD, who will meet with 1-3 mentees during the meeting to discuss research, help navigate the meeting, and facilitate introductions to other members. A mentee is a current student or EC (<10 years post-PhD, not including any career interruptions), who would like to be paired with a mentor during the meeting. The mentor/mentee program had great success in previous meetings, and we would be delighted to have similar interest as in previous years. We will do our best to pair mentees with mentors based on common research areas and to accept all mentees who apply. You can enroll in the Mentor/Mentee Program only until the early-bird registration deadline (Fr, 03. July). Applications received after this date will not be considered.
Pre-Conference Workshop
NASA’s Astromaterials Data System (Astromat) is running a workshop titled ‘Data Management Bootcamp for Astromaterials Researchers’ as a pre-conference workshop on Sunday, 9. August 2026 from 12:30 – 17:00 (including lunch) (1 pm – 5 pm). Details on the workshop are provided on the workshop subpage.
Early-Career Scientist Lunch
Students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists (within 10 years of completing your PhD) are warmly invited to join the Early-Career Scientist Lunch on Sunday the 9th, free of charge. The lunch will also feature four senior scientists, leaders of successful planetary missions, who will join the group to engage informally and share their experiences and insights. The event is limited to 100 participants and will be held in a traditional German restaurant in the heart of Frankfurt.
Conference Dinner
You will also need to register whether you wish to participate in the conference dinner on Wednesday evening. We booked a spacious ballroom, but in case of high attendance numbers, places will be given on a first come first served basis. The conference dinner is a vegetarian buffet with a range of options for various dietary needs. If you have particular dietary needs, please contact us at [email protected].
Travel Awards
The Meteoritical Society is proud to offer a wide range of travel support. You can apply for a travel award during abstract submission. Information on the various travel awards are provided on the respective Meteoritical Society webpage: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XQ5ZTQD
Awards for best oral contributions
Students can apply for the McKay award and the Wiley award for the best oral presentations at the Meteoritical Society conference. You can apply for these awards during abstract submission. Information on the McKay and Wiley awards, as well as previous winners are provided on the respective Meteoritical Society webpage: https://meteoritical.org/awards/mckay-and-wiley-awards
Abstract Submission Information
We are grateful for a skyrocketing abstract submission number of 512 abstracts. We thank everyone to contributing their work to MetSoc 2026. We are now starting to work on the program, which will be released on Mo, 22. June.
Please register soon, early bird registration is still open until Fr, 03. July.
